“A mother...finds it very hard to give up the nurses’ care of
her,
and
to be left alone to care for her infant in the very way that
she
herself needs to be treated.”
- D.W. Winnicott

first-time mother is often insecure and uncertain about how to take care of the baby. Her body is tired and sore; she needs time to rest and recuperate and may need some guidance on breast feeding. Meanwhile, the mother and her partner are going through enormous emotional shifts also. A postpartum doula will make the transition easier.
So, what is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula is a woman trained to care for new families in the first weeks after birth providing household help, advice with newborn care, infant feedings and emotional support.
What are some benefits of a Postpartum Doula?

| More likely to eat better and sleep more | |
| More confidence in parenting and childcare | |

As a Postpartum Doula I will provide:

| Support for the entire family through the early transitional days and weeks | |
| Assistance with early breast feeding challenges | |
| Hands-on education on infant and mother care | |

| A nurturing, restful atmosphere in which parents may eat, shower and nap |
Postpartum, my care is always tailored to your specific needs throughout the beginning of the baby's life to help you relax, recover from, process, and celebrate your birth story and enjoy your little one(s). This enables mom to recuperate faster and feel more confident in meeting the challenges a new baby brings. My goal is to ensure that the mother’s recovery is as relaxed as possible. This will allow you to bond nicely with your newborn bundle of joy. My focus is to provide flexibility in personal care that suits the specific needs of each family; and I am available to work as many as seven days/nights per week.
I pride myself on nurturing moms, babies and families with endless support and flexible, respective assistance, as families adjust to having a new baby(ies) in the house. I adore helping families experience the joy a newborn brings to every home, and assisting families transition smoothly into parenthood. And, I love to share my experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm!
Fees for a postpartum doula range from $25-$35 an hour, with a four hour minimum. The fee for my services are well within that range. I will be on call two weeks prior to your due date (that would be two weeks prior to your 38th week if you are having twins).
I'm an expert in the care of twins/multiples
